Broadmeadow Common
Groton, MA

Anchoring Groton Center’s newly re-zoned Station Avenue District, Broadmeadow Common creates a civic gateway from the Historic Town Center to the Nashua River Rail Trail and the pastoral meadow and wetlands beyond.  At the place where the Boutwell Axis meets the rail trail, forces fundamental to the character of Groton converge.

The significance of this special place is recognized with a new town common. Frontage on the new common and proximity to the rail trail and meadow enhances values of the privately-owned adjacent parcels.  New loft buildings here contribute to the district’s vitality with ground floor retail, upper floor office space, and top floor residential units.

Produced to supplement the work fo Groton’s Station Avenue Design Guidelines Committee and the Town of Groton Planning Board.

The Committee’s Design Guideline received a MA 2007 SmartEnergy+SmartGrowth Award
