Additions and renovations to a single-family house in Concord, Massachusetts.
The design objective was to create single level living, which included the construction of a new master bedroom suite at grade. Other additions include a new mudroom/service wing as well as a new bath on the second floor.
The proportions and detail of the new work attempt to reflect the smaller scale of the original house.
The configuration and siting of the bedroom wing achieves greater outdoor privacy while capturing pastoral views toward the east.
